Having your book published is a huge achievement, Clare, and a huge exertion of mental and emotional energy. I wonder how every author isn't knackered after each book?! (Maybe they are but are keeping quiet about it...) When I spoke with the fabulous Claire for her podcast I was getting towards the end of my energy reserves and in the past month or so I've really been quiet about the book because I just haven't had the energy for it. But, there's time, we want our books to be around for years to come so it's a long game, and it's vital that we take care of ourselves and honour our needs to be able to share our book and everything else we want.

Thank you so much, Gabrielle πŸ’– You're right - maybe people do just disappear for a bit and we don't notice?! It is all about that long game, and I really appreciate your reminder about honouring our needs. I am trying to work out how/when to take a chunk of time off because it's very much needed! I've got a copy of your book on my to-read pile and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in.

Clare thanks so much for openly sharing your feelings around the book launch. I'm in the middle of it right now and your words really resonated with me. It's an emotional rollercoaster and exhausting in just about every way possible isn't it?!

You're so welcome, Natalie - I'm really glad that it resonated with you! Huge congratulations on your launch, it really is an incredible thing to publish a book. Have you got a copy in your hands yet or will it arrive next week? There's no feeling like it - but emotional rollercoaster absolutely sums it up! πŸ’– I've had a few people asking if I'll do another but I'm honestly too tired to say right now πŸ˜‚

Thank you so much, Clare. I have an advanced copy now, but actually, it wasn't until my Mum sent me a photo of her holding hers, which was delivered this morning, that I became a little emotional. It's funny, isn't it, when people start asking you about the next one before you've even had a chance to process the experience of birthing the first one?

Aww thanks so much for the shout out Clare! I feel like the β€œalways ON” energy is a strange one… we have to pull on resources that sometimes just evacuate the building. When I worked in festivals and events my team would always say pace yourself and I always thought I was quite good at that but then with kids it’s a whole other level. Today I watched a full episode of Interior Design Masters with my lunch and this morning I had my breakfast outside while my husband did the school run. Two restful activities that in the storm of being β€œon” and β€œmum” and β€œover committed” helped me feel completely present. Always leaning in and learning from other creatives like you too when it comes to rest!

πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

This Saturday I’m planning on a promo thread so I’ll tag you in so you don’t miss it and you can shout more about your book if you feel like it.

βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨βœ‰οΈβœ¨βœ¨βœ¨ sending all the sparkles and please know you’ve done enough, we have more time always.

Thank you for your lovely reply, Claire! πŸ’– You're so right about the "always ON" mode - I feel like I've been like this for years now and it's well and truly caught up with me! I'm so glad that you had those two activities just for you in the day because it really helps. I try to do that too, but I think what I really need is a complete break for a bit - but I'm not sure I can afford that right now. It's one of the joys of being self employed isn't it?!

Thank you for including me on your thread today - it's so inspiring seeing all of the achievements and celebrating with the community! https://sparkleon.substack.com/p/saturday-sparkle-on-substack-celebration/comments

Congratulations on your second book launch. Even taking a day or two off will help you decompress and switch off. I hope you can do so. xx
