Welcome to my new-look paid space here on Substack. I’ve loved having you here as part of my Embroidery Membership, but all good things must come to an end (or at least have a pivot!), and I’m excited for the next chapter.
Moving forwards, my paid Substack subscription will be a way to continue to support my work. I’ll be writing posts about projects behind the scenes, sharing new ideas and patterns for you to stitch from time to time. Paid subscribers will also be invited to join a live stitching session, which I’ll host later in the year (probably via Zoom). I’ll also keep the Substack chat function for paid subscribers only so that we can continue to connect there.
Anyway, I’m so happy that you’re here, and I really appreciate your support 💖 If you’d like to join as a paid subscriber, just hit the button below to find out about paid and yearly options - it’s just £5 per month or £60 for the year, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
When I was thinking about what I want this space to be, I kept coming back to having somewhere to share more of what goes on behind-the-scenes. I always love seeing how people work and I’ve kind of got out of the habit of sharing it as much on socials. But social media is a bit of a weird place at the moment isn’t it? I’ve not wanted to spend as much time there because I want to be more present in the real world, but I need to be there for visibility and (more importantly) to connect with people. It’s such a hard juggle - I don’t want to use the word ‘balance’ here because I’m not sure that even exists?! I’d love to know your thoughts on this so do let me know in the comments.
Anyway, it’s really important to me to show what it’s like to run a small business, especially now in the ever-changing climate that we find ourselves working in. The small businesses you’re buying from are real people, working on their passions and juggling lots of other things around it but they’re making it work. I believe it’s important for us to share our stories. Stories that tell the realities of the ups and downs of running small businesses, because although it might look easy, it really isn’t!
So in this post I’m talking about changes over the past few years, pivoting back to selling embroidery kits, and what I’ve been working on this month.
